High quality, perfect for my macbook drive swap

It does what it says. Place a 2.5" sata drive in it and you've got a portable drive accessible via either Firewire 400 or USB2. Comes with a two-port USB cable and a six-pin firewire cable. The USB cable has two plugs on it, presumably to pick up the power from two ports if you need to.
For firewire, no extra power supply is needed, provided you use a 6-pin firewire cable like the one included.
I'm using a Hitachi 200gb 7200rpm drive, no harms. This drive originally came in my Macbook Pro, which I upgraded to a larger drive.
The Tango case functions impeccably as a bootable firewire drive with my first OSX partition in it. FWIW, I used SuperDuper to copy the data off the outdoor case and onto the new internal drive. It took a small over two hours to copy 170GB from the enclosed space to the internal drive.
The build quality is excellent. The case is aluminum, and the end caps are plastic. Inside a full-length PCB slides out to attach the drive to. This is not a cheap PCB that sticks on the end of a drive, only to loosen later. The drive attaches firmly to the connector and then two screws hold it to the PCB. The end of the case is vented and has a blue/purple activity LED. The case beyond doubt sheds heat.
I'm extremely pleased with this thing. I'm glad I thought to look for firewire, because it wasn't coming up among the best-selling USB-only enclosures. This is the best of both worlds for a very reasonable price.
EDIT: Also, check out the Firewire 800 version of this baby if you want a small more speed. I just prearranged one, so can't note on it yet, but the FW800 should be nice for working on video. |
Excellent price, fantastic design and Double Firewire ports!

| It's doubtless one of cheapest firewire/usb2 drive enclosures that you can find. My other choice would have been the OWC Mercury on the go but it is way too expensive to get it USB2/FIREWIRE. I like the fact that it has TWO firewire ports, which means you can daisy-chain another firewire drive. Kind of scarce for an enclosed space. Minor issue is the led light when it is on. When the drive is in writing or conception mode, the light changes to a light violet color. The violet color is somewhat close to the blue color when it is in standby mode. I really like the design. It is sleek with a matte-end. One of better designs out there for an enclosed space. I have a sabrent one and it is not as excellent design-wise. One more thing. Not sure if it is an issue. The USB port is the "mini pin" version, akin to the tie for most point-and-shoot digital cameras. Can any techie confirm if such port has a slower transfer speed than the standard USB port? Overall, I like this enclosed space. Comes with both usb and firewire cables. Outer retail packaging is also well design. And this item is made in the excellent of US of A! I wish it has a silver color version to match to my mac mini. |
Dance the Tango and Like it!

The Black Tango Enclosed space is simply perfect for my needs. I removed a 120GB drive from my MacBook Pro
because I needed more space. This enclosed space was all I needed to keep the 120 as a backup, bootable drive. Plug it in and it works. Sorry to say, I cannot get too techno-point a propos transfer rates, latency, and such. But, it delivers awe-inspiring routine and the price is indomitable. Everything you need is included.
Finally, it is cute and you can dance with it (if you have an plenty of free time). Cheers... |
Fantastic enlosure, fantastic price perfect with Oxford Chipset

| I was well-informed by Acomdata that this enclosed space comes with an Oxford chipset assembled making this enclosed space the best on the market for the price. Installing my hard drive was simple and the case works like a charm. It mounted on my Apple laptop first shot, no outdoor power supply needed. It is sleek and aesthetically pleasing. I would choose this enclosed space again over others. The exceptional consumer support Acomdata offers is an added bonus! |
Acomdata Tango 2.5" USB/FireWire400 SATA Drive Enclosed space Kit

| I really like this enclosed space. Most 2.5 inch enclosures do not include a firewire interface, which was a must for me. I place a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB drive in the case and it works fantastic. I use the drive to convey videos from my Mac desktop to my Apple TV (with the Fire Core ATV Flash software installed). I load the videos over firewire and attach the drive to the Apple TV using USB. The case could use a couple of other color choices for the make conscious, but otherwise this enclosed space is perfect for my needs. |
